Connecting Drupal to Social Media
The recently released Gigya Socialize module for Drupal brings new convenience to connecting Drupal sites to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. This session will explore using this new module as well as dedicated modules for connecting Drupal sites to other social media sites.
We’ll cover examples including:
- Integration of social media into existing Drupal sites.
- Using social media sites to increase awareness of your Drupal site
- Incorporating data from social media sites into your Drupal site.
Ægir and Drush - kicking tires and looking under the hook
In early 2009, Robin researched and implemented the Ægir hosting system for a client project with Affinity Bridge. The project used Ægir 0.1 to easily deploy identical Drupal sites using Install Profiles.
DataSphere and Drupal
DataSphere Technologies, Inc. (http://www.DataSphere.com) is a Software as a Service (SaaS) Web technology company built by a group of senior online technologists and product managers.
Come learn about how we leveraged Drupal to create a network of “hyper-local” sites for Fisher Communications (a Seattle-based communications and media company and the parent company of KOMO-TV and dozens of other media outlets in the western United States) in less than ten weeks.
JavaScript in Drupal 7: what developers need to know
An overview of the most important changes that have been introduced to Drupal 7 regarding the use of JavaScript in modules and themes.
Drupal for He-Man and Barbie: a case study for a major toy manufacturer
The world’s largest toy manufacturer recently relaunched its corporate site using Drupal. This short session will give an overview of the most interesting challenges faced by the team at WorkAtPlay to bring this site to fruition: flash integration using json, highly customised search functionality, heavy use of jQuery and some unique theming challenges.

Building syndication buses with FeedAPI & OpenCalais
I will go through the steps in building and maintaining a comprehensive syndication bus in Drupal 6 using FeedAPI, Open Calais, & Twitter drawing from my experience with http://integral.virishi.net.
I will cover many of the ‘gotchas’ of building such a system and discuss issues around performance, scalability and how I’m preparing for Drupal 7, PubSubHubbub and RSSCloud.
This will be geared at an intermediate level and will assume familiarity with Drupal installation and configuration (incl. contrib modules – esp. Views).
D7 Theming: so awesome you'll need a change of pants
The changes to the Drupal 7 Theme layer aren’t revolutionary, but there are so many improvements, you may have trouble… ah… controlling yourself.
Drupal Development Security Essentials
If you’ve ever written custom code or modules for Drupal and wondered to yourself “am I going to regret this later?” Have you ever uploaded a development version of a module to a live site, hoping that your site was small enough that no hacker would bother trying to find it’s security flaws?
Give your conscience a break! Securing your own Drupal code, or assessing the exploit-ability of other modules isn’t rocket science, and you can actually reap some huge benefits employing just a handful of Drupal functions.
GIS, Mapping & Drupal
This session will be focused on demoing the new OpenLayers and Geo module. These modules works with ‘true’ GIS data (points, lines polygons) that are stored in a geospatial database (postGIS or MySQL Spatial). We will show you how to “mashup” data from many sources (including KML, WMS, WFS, Google, Yahoo etc.) and display a unique map with variable styling. If there is time, we may even get down and dirty with the very extensible openlayers API.
Some of the topics that will be discussed or demoed:
Panels 3 - Enlightenment or Inquistion Style Torture
Panels made my life so much easier but Panels 3 is different.
Again.
Building something with Panels and then hacking away at the theme layer to make it look pretty will be the focus of this presentation.
Thanks for all the kind words and the great support from Jen, Andy, and …
Several of you asked me to post the link to the site that I used for the presentation. http://panels.anguspratt.com .
