Boost is an awesome file caching solution geared towards anonymous traffic. It’s one of the best ways to speed up any site. Boost does the following:

  • Caching of almost all Content-Type: text/*
  • Gzip support for everything that is cached
  • Fine grained control of cache & cache expiration
  • Multi threaded crawler to help eliminate pages not being in the cache
  • Allows for your site to stay in a mostly up state while in maintenance mode
  • Full support for multisites & core stats

In this session you will learn about

  • Boost’s unique caching invalidation & expiration structure
  • What most of the settings do, and which ones fit your needs (several examples)
  • How, when & where to use the 3 blocks that come with Boost
  • Various tricks like writing a custom php snippet that controls what gets cached
  • Future plans & goals for this module

Q&A before, during, & after the presentation!

Great Work, BOOST 6x is awesome

Everyone should attend this presentation. Mike has put many endless hours into the Boost project and it shows. Boost works like a dream and I now use it in 7 Drupal sites, 5 of which are on a shared host. It has made a huge difference by serving pages from cache rather than waiting on my host’s slow database to assemble each page. I just can’t say enough about how well it works. Mike has the persistence, patients and know-how that has brought this project back to the front page!
Thanks Mike!

Boost Helps me Sleep.

I have been using Boost on my site for about 3 months. It is a … rather large … website – about 640K pages large. Boost makes handling lots of traffic a breeze. Before Boost I was literally staying up nights tending to the database – or in reality tending to Godaddy’s crap dedicated hosting who was tending to the database. We have moved to better hosting, but our traffic has way more than doubled and I truly believe the only thing that is keeping my server humming like nothing is going on is Boost. In fact, after switching to Boost I noticed a sizable increase in traffic from Google, most likely because the pages were now loading instantly from flat file instead of competing with others to access the database and coming when the database was free.

Thank for Boost, Mike! I sleep better at night.

Excellent! I’ve been wanting

Excellent! I’ve been wanting someone to convince me to use Boost for a while. Looking forward to it.

Cheers,
Chris
